3rd Tea Party

Saturday 19th April 2003

The idea behind this event was to provide the opportunity for Brethren, Friends and family to visit Marcus Humphrey House and be shown round the facilities.

The following provinces; Argyll and the Isles, Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, Lanark Middle Ward and Lanark Upper Ward, Renfrewshire East, Renfrewshire West, Dumfries, Galloway support Marcus Humphrey House and were requested to provide 10 Brethren from each Province.

In speaking to members present I was pleased to note that many were visiting for the first time and were very impressed with the facilities. That was our main aim to inform 'grass root' members of Marcus Humphrey House and where the Scottish Masonic Charity is provided.

The residents and staff provided a home baking and bric a brak stall and this insured that everyone was involved. Many residents' families also attended. The Friends Group operated the raffle and sold Christmas Cards. In the short space of 2 hours £835 was raised for Grand Lodge.

A special mention to Margaret who thought of the first prize in the raffle - A 'Box of Sunshine' - staff purchased items from a supermarket which had the colour yellow on the packaging.

The winner Bro Alistair Davie (right), Almoner at Lodge Bonhill and Alexandria St Andrew's Royal Arch 321 kindly re-donated all items to Marcus Humphrey House.

As Chairman of the Friends group, I would like to thank the Residents, all the Staff, members of the group and additional helpers for ensuring that the day was an outstanding success.

Bro David Reid
