Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East

Leap Year Thursday Club

The Province’s well established Thursday Club took advantage of the extra day on Thursday 29th of February to hold its latest meeting.

The Club is comprised of the four Lodges within the Province who meet on Thursdays and takes place whenever there is a fifth Thursday in the month and none has a regular meeting of its own.

On this occasion the hosts were Lodge Thistle & Crown No.1167 in Neilston. The other Lodges involved being Lodge Sir George Cathcart No.617, Lodge Craigends No.1042 and Lodge Newton Mearns No.1706.

The RWM of Lodge Thistle & Crown, Bro. John Norman Campbell, welcomed a Deputation of twelve Reigning Masters from within and outwith the Province headed by RWM of Lodge Newton Mearns, Bro. David Dempster.

The RWPGM of Renfrewshire East, Bro. Ronald E. Fraser was also welcomed into the Lodge. He noted that a total of 75 Brethren had signed the book and that the popularity of the Thursday Club was undiminished.

Prior to an exemplary FC Degree being conferred by a Degree Team from Lodge Newton Mearns, Bro. Ken Stein PM of that Lodge was called to the edge of the carpet and invited to become an Honorary Member of Lodge Thistle & Crown – an honour he happily accepted.
