Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East
225 years of Freemasonry at Lochwinnoch
Lodge Garthland St Winnoch No.205 celebrated its 225th Anniversary on Saturday 14 September with a Re-dedication and Consecration Ceremonial conducted by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East.
The Masonic Temple in High Street, Lochwinnoch, was packed for the occasion with Brethren from both within and outwith the Province.
Provincial Grand Lodge having been opened by RWPGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser, a dissertation on the Lodge was delivered by IPPGM Bro. Neil Fraser.
The origins of the Lodge could be traced back to 1799 – just prior to the Napoleonic Wars -mand although the first minute book from the until 1813 had been lost it was clear that in early days meetings were held in local hostelries or in the homes of Brethren – many of whom came from the local farming community.
Following the First World War the Lodge – the fifth oldest in the Province – experienced a large influx of new members. The present Lodge premises were purchased in 1954.
The ceremonial was carried out by PGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser assisted by Bro. Gavin Burt SPGM, Bro. Brian Shields SPGM, Bro. Scott Bogle SPGM and Bro. George Paul PG Chaplain.
Bro.Graeme Hay, RWM of Lodge Garthland St Winnoch No.205 warmly thanked Provincial Grand Lodge for their excellent work.
Following the ceremony a special Anniversary dinner and Harmony was enjoyed by Brethren.
