Bowlers raise cash for Prostate Scotland
A tournament organised last June at Paisley’s Wellmeadow Bowling Club support of Prostate Scotland raised the magnificent amount of £834.
A cheque for this amount was handed to representatives of the charity, Sarah Whalen and Gerrry Gallacher, by RWPGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser on Friday 25th October.
He reminded those present that Freemasons had been at forefront of fundraising for research and treatment of prostate disease which kills one man every 45 minutes.
The Grand Lodge of Scotland and Scottish Freemasonry have been a partner with Prostate Scotland since 2012 to raise funds along with awareness of the disease and support men and their families.
At a local level a Prostate Awareness Initiative - developed by Bro. John Malcolm PM 1566, PG Scribe N - was launched in June 2023 in conjunction with all Masonic orders in Renfrewshire to raise awareness of the disease.
The aim of the initiative is to offer a confidential support mechanism for Renfrewshire Masons to discuss the issue and assist in fundraising to continue the fight against the disease.
Thanking the PGM for the cheque, Mr. Gallacher said: “Prostate Scotland greatly values the overwhelming support we receive from Freemasons.”
