Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East

Thursday Club Resumes

The Province’s “Thursday Club” returned to its roots on the 30th March when Lodge Craigends No. 1042 hosted the first meeting of the Club since it was paused by the COVID pandemic.

For it was at Lodge Craigends in Linwood, Renfrewshire, that the inaugural meeting of the club took place at the end of January 2014 and the resumption – with 96 Brethren including 11 Reigning Masters attending – showed it had lost none of its appeal.

The club is comprised of the four lodges within the Province who meet on Thursdays and takes place whenever there is a fifth Thursday in the month and none has a regular meeting of its own.

The other lodges involved - who take it in turns to host the special meetings - are Lodge Sir George Cathcart No.617, Lodge Thistle and Crown No. 1167 and Lodge Newton Mearns No.1706.

On this occasion it was the turn of a Degree Team from Lodge Thistle and Crown headed by Bro. George E Paul PM 1167 and PG Chaplain to carry out an outstanding MMM Ceremonial.

Earlier Bro. Martin Cassidy RWM of Lodge Craigends welcomed a Deputation from PGLRE headed by RWPGM Bro. Ronald E Fraser who congratulated the Lodges involved on the resumption of the successful Thursday Club.

He added that it fitted in with growing trend of co-operation between Lodges in the Province helping each other out by, for example, getting together to form combined Degree Teams.
