PGL Divine Service

The Annual Divine Service of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East was held in Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Parish Church, Rutherglen, on Sunday 10th April.

It was attended by a total of 67 Brethren - including representatives of the Sister Provincial Grand Lodges of Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, Kilwinning, Lanarkshire Middle Ward, Lanarkshire Upper Ward, Renfewshire West and Stirlingshire. Many of the Brethren were accompanied by relatives and friends.

The Service was conducted by the Rev. Brother Malcolm Cuthbertson PG Chaplain. Scripture readings were given by PGM, Bro. Ronald Fraser and SPGM Bro. Gavin Burt.

The sermon was based on the story of Jesus meeting with an unpopular tax collector “wee man” recounted in Luke 19: 1 – 10 and of how Zacchaeus became a reformed character as a result.

The Rev. Bro. Cuthbertson pointed out that Jesus often took a special interest in those on the periphery of society and turned them into better people and suggested there was a lesson for Lodges to take special care to include those on the fringes and thereby energise their contribution.

Following the service tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes were provided in the Church hall.
