Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East

Sporting Silverware Presentation

The presentation of sporting cups and trophies was the highlight of the PGLRE Tri Annual meeting held on 28th October in the Paisley Masonic Centre.

There was no doubt about the destination of the Province’s bowling silverware – with Lodge Thorntree No. 512 scooping up all three trophies.

The Lord Blythswood and the Craigends Quaich were won with Skip Bro. Ronnie Meechan in charge. The Sam Love Trophy was won with Skip Bro, Robert Brown at the helm.

The prizes were presented by PGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser and PPGSM Bro. William Fleming, who is Bowling Convener.

Another bright note on the bowling front was the match between the PGL of Renfrewshire East and the PGL of Ayrshire held Charleston Bowling Club on 25 September. PGLRE won the trophy by 6 shots and £450 was donated on the day to the Grand Master Mason’s Appeal Fund.

On the golf front things were swinging well for Lodge Renfrew County Kilwinning No.370 with members Bro. Christopher Rae and Bro. Callum Samuel winning the Major Allan Trophy. Runners up were Bro. Stuart Brown and Bro. Andrew Greig of The Lodge of Erskine No.1566.

The Stableford was won by Bro. Alan Wells of Lodge Prince of Wales No. 426. Runner up was Bro. Harry Bain of Lodge St. Barchan No.156.

Winner of the Robert Watt Trophy was Bro. Alan Wells of Lodge Prince of Wales No.426.

The McMenemy Trophy was won by Bro. Eddie Mullin and Bro. Bobby Clark of Lodge Union & Crown No. 307 with runners up Bro. Stuart Hamilton and Bro. Harry Bain of Lodge St. Barchan No. 156.

The golfing prizes were presented by SPGM Bro. Scott Bogle, who is Golfing Convener, and PGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser, who warmly congratulated all the prize winners and all those who had taken part in bowling and golf competitions throughout the year.

He also paid special tribute to Bro. Bogle and Bro. Fleming for all their hard work in organising the golf and bowling events.
